Tanner was suppose to have a baptism on Saturday but the kid was not ready. They are hoping that they will be able to baptism him on October 10th. The biggest challenge Tanner has is trying to find new investigators. They are working hard on President Hall’s program so that they can be blessed with success. They have not had investigators in church for two weeks. Tanner said that his companion is great . Elder Robertson is cool but a lot more quiet than Tanner. I find that hard to believe, Tanner is the quietest person I know.
Tanner sent a letter this week with his testimony written in Spanish. It is a beautiful testimony and it shows how much he has spiritually.
During his email this week he sent several pictures of the mission office staff. This is one from September where Elder Tate photo shopped the mission president in. President Hall is in the back wearing a red tie.
Tanner is holding the Mexican flag and a Dr. Pepper.
Whenever there are transfers they take a new office picture. Tanner is the one wearing the mask , his companion is the tall one with glasses, Elder Tate is the wearing the sombrero.
They look like they have fun. Tanner seems to like the masks.
He wants to share 2 Nephi 30:5-6 with us. He likes this scripture because as missionaries it is cool to bring the Book if Mormon to people and trll them this is where they as people here in the Americas came from. He can really feel this scripture coming true as the missionaries continue to work.
Tanner had a really good week. He was able to go the dedication of the Mexico City Temple. They got to see President Eyring and Elder Holland speak. He said it was cool. They also saw the cultural event and that was cool also. During the week they also had a mission conference where Elder Reyes came to speak. Of course that was cool too.
Tanner said that he has seen the gift of tongues through out his entire mission just about every day. Tanner said that he pretty much understands everything that is being said.
Tanner had great week. He was able to go to the Mexico City temple open house with an investigator, someone that they baptized and some ward members. He said it was really cool.
Tanner and his companion had two baptisms on Saturday. Normally secretaries do not have very many baptisms, so this was cool for them.
He has transfers coming up and he is sure that he will not be transferred but that he will get a new companion.
During the week Tanner received six letters from home. Elder Tate was mad because Tanner always gets letters and he hardly gets any letters from home. Sad, but I am sure his family emails him on Mondays.
While Tanner was at his district leader’s house study he took a picture of a dog that was outside waiting for someone to play with. Tanner loves dogs so I am sure he really wanted to play with the dog instead of studying.
Tanner is trying to learn to like working in the mission office. He has been thinking about what he wants to do when he gets home as far as going to school. He has lots of time to think about that and this the time that he should be thinking about his mission.
Tanner is learning to like working in the mission office more but he says it still is not fun. He answers the phone sometimes and does other things. I think he would rather be out teaching then stuck in a office doing things that he does not like.
He tried some Chicharron con Salsa Verde. He said it was alright but it made him slightly sick, but nothing to worry about. He said he is learning a little bit about cooking good Mexican food. Hopefully he can teach me some things.
He sent pictures of him wearing a Nazi helmet and holding a dagger that said “All for Germany” in German on the dagger. He said they were real and pretty cool. He said the family liked collecting old stuff. I like old record player in the background.
He was able to go to a mall in his area. He went into a guitar store and checked it out. They had some guitar picks with Johnny Cash on them but he did not buy them because it just had the words and no pictures.
