Week 8

I know I’m really late on writing this…. But guess what! Tanner and elder Gomez did their first baptism. Tanner said the guy had to quit smoking to get baptized. What a challenge that must of been! Tanner doesn’t count this as his first baptism because his he just got with elder Gomez. But still I think it is pretty cool!

Doesn’t this picture just bring tears to your eyes? It did for me! Maybe just because I’m a cry baby?! Hahaha! Tanner said they did not get to baptize the covert because his mission believes that the ward members should so they can maintain a better relationship the members. Which is smart!!

So tanner told us he ate street food! And guess what he ate?!! Intestines!! Gross!! He liked it! Tanner is going to eat cow head and cow tongue! Cool beans! Tanner is exploring and trying new things.

We did not get many pictures this week 😦 sad!!! Tanner doesn’t want to look like a tourist so he rarely takes his camera out.

Week 7

Well this was the first week tanner was out in the field! Tanner had lots of amazing things to say. We always love to hear from him(: I learned something new this Monday. I did not know lunch was the biggest meal in Mexico? Tanner eats lunch at members or investigators homes. And eats ramen or cereal for breakfast and dinner. Tanner really loves mexico. He doesn’t speak much while teaching investigators because he still learning the language. Tanner shared a funny story with us in an email “The other day a lady told me to take her with me when I return to the U.S. then she told me to marry one of her daughters and then she tried to give me her other daughter’s baby. It was very weird especially since I did not really understand much of it. She was joking about all of it… I think. Lol but it was funny.” I could not stop laughing! Tanner shared with us that the Cruz family feeds tanner and his companion a lot! Sunday they are hamburgers and fries!!!! Aren’t they in Mexico? Eating American food, guess tanner isn’t missing the food here to much!

Above are some of the pictures Tanner shared with us! They show where he lives and how he lives! Honestly love his kitchen. It’s so pinkish or red! The only part I am not sure if I like is the laundry room which is the buckets. He gets use them to wash his clothes. He could go to a laundry Matt it would cost him about 7 American dollars. But I think it is so worth it:) any how! TIL next week!!!

Week 6

Tanner is now out of the MTC! How fast! He was quite sad to be leaving all his friends. He said he was just as sad as when he left home. I guess you really do grow close to the people you meet there! He is doing well! He received a new companion named elder Gomez! He barely speaks any ENGLISH! What a challenge. But we know tanner can do it! His PDAY is now Monday if you want to email him know it is Monday instead of THURSDAY.. Tanner tells us that his area is really rough. He will send pictures on Monday! So I will add them in next weeks blog! He didn’t say much more this week! But I must add im sure you all know tanners love for music he added in an email to Paige this “yesterday and Sunday I had two songs stuck in my head, Time by Alan Parsons Project (Dad will be proud) and Para Siempre Dios Este Con Vos. Listen to them, they are both good and describe how I felt leaving the CCM” tanner loves music. And I know it’s probably a trial that he can’t listen to his Beatles, or rock music on his mission. But he can do anything he sets his mind too. Tanner has always wanted to serve a mission. And I know he will do great things.

This is tanner and his mission president and his wife. Also his companion elder Gomez! Tanner is looking so different!

Week 5

I really am slow at publishing these! This may be a short post due to the fact we really did not hear much! Can you believe tanner gets out of the MTC on Monday? Which means his PDAY is on Monday now I believe! He told me in an email “President Pratt is the president here for a few more days but did you know he is related to Parley P. Pratt? It is pretty cool.” How cool is that?!!? Tanner also said one of his favorite missionaries in his district is elder west! Tanner got some Venezuela money! Tanner told me this in Spanish ” Sé que mediante Jesucristo, puedo hacer todo que necesito hacer. Especialmente porque estoy sirviendo Él. ” Tanner bearing his testimony in Spanish is the most beautiful thing ever.
