What a wonderful experience we were able to call Tanner ! That was amazing! This is a few days after the call. But that 30 minutes we learned so much it was Better then emailing! We learned that he may have to use buckets to shower and he could get mugged. Tanner also told that people shoot guns off for fun in the air.!?!? Why? Lol! Crazy
Christmas was not the same without tanner here! Over the past years it was great! Something was truly missing. But at least he is doing a good thing!!!:) in tanners district they are doing a secret Santa! Tanner was excited to tell us all the things they exchanged! Tanner couldn’t speak English properly!!! I guess that’s good? He is learning the language and doing well. He will be out of the MTC in a week or 2. Tanner is learning the language better then most he says! He talked a lot about people in his district especially the ones from Venezuela! they are learning English. Tanner really loves his mission! But he is scared to speak Spanish fluently all the time! I know he can do it! Anyhow! Those 30 minutes were the best 30 minutes our family could ask for. And it was one amazing phone call! Til next time!
We got to get an email from tanner on Tuesday instead of THURSDAY since he gets to call home on Christmas! (We are so excited to call… Just saying!!!!!) tanner didn’t say much this week) Tanner was shocked to realize he has been gone 4 whole weeks!!! He will be out of the MTC in 2 more weeks! Time sure is flying. Tanner said in an email “Hermano Hernandez who is super awesome and he can examine handwriting and tell your personality by hit so far he has determined that I am determined and that I am focused. I gave him a paper from my notebook to further analyze because I am curious.” This is pretty cool! He is getting closer to the teachers, and his companions. This is good because he is getting more comfortable with Mexico! And we are just so happy for him! He also shared with me that one of the elders first name is tanner! How cool. I always find it so entertaining some of the emails he sends. He sent me an email talking about the gift of tongues and his testimony that it was true : ” Lessons are so fun in Spanish they are hard but the gift of tongues is real. Hermana Weber is an old lady named Consuelo in her role plays and she acts super shy. I was really bold one lesson and I asked her if she would go to church with us and she was like,”tal vez”(maybe) and I don’t know maybe it was the spirit and I just said,”¿Si o no?” and she broke character and started laughing and so did Elder Rush and I had to ask if I was allowed to say that and she said it depends on the investigator but ´Consuelo´ said yes so that’s good and we got her to pray. ” what a great testimony of that. Tanner said he has learned 2 things on his mission. (We are hoping he has learned more but here is the 2 most important things he has learned :1. Focus on the Lord’s work and do all your studying for the investigators not for yourself 2. Teach people not lessons. How great is that! Tanner is doing great. More info on how he is doing tomorrow, when we call!!!!
Wow times flies by when you’re having fun!!! Tanner had an eventful week. He gave one of the sisters a blessing, his first blessing he gave. Heck he even got his hair cut… (Rather short if we are being honest!!) He is still in the MTC and will be for a few more weeks. Tanner is one of the better missionaries at speaking Spanish in his district. Wow! Cool! From the looks of his pictures he has sent he looks “tanner” hahaha! Can you believe it’s been 3 weeks??!!!? He got sick this past week he had a fever. One of the members of the district gave him a blessing and the day next he was ok. He has a little cough. But he is doing great.:) we are so proud of him! He again loves his companion elder rush! He says that elder rush reminds him of the priest in the ward back home:) for those of you who don’t know… Tanner loves his music whether it be church music, the Beatles, his guitar playing. He loves it. His MTC president won’t let him listen to it! What a shocker for tanner… He says that’s one of the hardest things to do. He also added in an email that studying everyday is hard but he is getting used to it 🙂 if you’re wondering what the weather is like there, he said it is nice, he saw it sprinkle once. (Just wait til the rainy season it will rain everyday!!!) hahaha they are also doing a secret Santa in their district we can’t wait to hear all about it in the next email… OR when we get to talk to him on Christmas 🙂 attached are some pictures tanner sent us 🙂
Here’s some other pictures! One of him and his companion and one of his room!
Tanner is having yet another amazing week in Mexico City! He went to the temple visitor center and immigration today to take care of visas. He emailed us late Thursday evening! He is having a great time. He is getting used to studying everyday and the routine he will have for the next 2 years. Tanner was surprised to see how much Mexico City is like America! He found a KFC there. He was pretty excited he even sent a picture of it! Ahaha(: we are excited to be able To call tanner on Christmas Day:)
Tanner loves his companion. His companion is weird and fun. And brings out the fun side of tanner! We are so excited for this opportunity for tanner.
Here’s some other pictures!!! Tanner looks like he is having a great time! His companion is named elder rush! He is having a spiritual experience 🙂 we are so excited to hear from him next week!!
It was tanners first week in the MTC or the CCM as they would say it in Spanish! Tanner has had a roller coaster of a week. From studying to having time with the people in his district. He said in an email to his sister “by the way Elder Rush is the
district leader so I am his counselor but district leader is so much harder than any calling we have been able to have until now. Some of our members of the district 10b are a little crazy sometimes but they are all awesome”. Tanner is loving his mission! Mexico has great weather he says it’s not to good! He says they have safe water for
Him to drink so he doesn’t get sick. my companion was sick and so are a lot of people in my district. “Yesterday morning my throat was horribly sore but it got better over the day and I feel perfectly fine today.” Tanner is also teaching an investigator named Rosa in Spanish. Him and his companion are learning tons!! Also Tanners fear of
Airplanes are no longer an issue. He said they weren’t bad at all. Attached are some pictures Tanner sent me:)
